You don’t always need a large crowd to have a successful event. Our first Link-Up was more well attended ….about 60 people on a cool, early December night in 2015. Link-up 2 happened on the Labor Day week-end, lots of competing events in and out of the state, plus the uncertainty of weather conditions – a minimal hurricane passed over much of Florida, then headed up the eastern coast. Folks who were flying out of New York were not too sure if they would be able to make the return trip on Sunday. So most opted not to take the risk. Those driving from Florida just could not be too sure if flooding in South Georgia would impact driving conditions, so they too stayed home. We got up to a head count of about 36. One of the most unique things that happened is that several alumni members brought their teens and early twenties children along. One family drove down from N. Carolina. Our DJ’s mom turned out to be another alumni. Men, no surprise, were outnumbered. One of the side effects of that is I am probably still “cross-eyed” from an overdose of eye-candy!!
